Hi, I’m Ryan Burrell, or “The Blurr.”
So, what is Ryan’s background in the sport? What is his experience? These are fair questions and I’ll answer them here. I started running in 8th grade back in 2012 and ran until my freshman year in college in 2017. During that time I did fairly well in track where my main race was the 1600m as well as cross country. I have a couple of 4th place finishes at State in Louisiana in the 1600m as well as All Metro and All State awards in Cross Country (2 each.) After quitting back in 2017 due to neuromuscular fatigue (the price of overtraining) I started lifting weights and got equally addicted to that for a few years until I moved to Dallas in 2021. At this point I figured my best years of running were long behind me and I had no desire to take it up again until I got encouraged to give it a try again by older Scottish gentleman. I tried the Turkey Trot 5k in Baton Rouge in 2021 with very little training and felt like I was dying but strangely enough, that’s what I needed to get bitten by the bug again. Fast forward to 2026 and I have completed 9 half-marathons, 1 marathon and countless 5ks and 10ks.
